Feminist Epistemologies and Planetary Thought

In this class we’ll discuss the legacy of Feminist Epistemologies (FE) as they relate to normative conditions of how we know things in a world, what we say about what we know, and what counts as relevant problems to explore. What a priori concepts condition what is knowable, sensible and intelligible? We’ll be asking how situating knowledge claims interfaces with a shifted frame of reference from the globe to the planetary. In submitting situated knowledge claims to the multi-scalar condition of the planetary, we’ll also problematize endemic humanist scalar predilections that unsettle self-evident contours of a ‘site’ that binds knowledge claims vis-a-vis ‘atmospheric’ considerations.
