The Future Must be Feminist (Budoucnost Musí Být Feministická)

Na začátku září proběhla v pražské galerii tranzitdisplay přednáška Diann Bauer a Patricie Reed, jež jsou členkami kolektivu Laboria Cuboniks. Českému publiku představily svůj xenofeministický manifest. V rozhovoru rozvádějí hlavní myšlenky tohoto provokativního textu o možnostech a limitech společenské transformace. Při své prezentaci v galerii tranzitdisplay jste věnovaly dost pozornosti globalismu a komplexnosti dnešního světa a feministickým závazkům těmto výzvám čelit. Můžete popsat nejdůležitější body svého manifestu? Diann Bauer: Náš manifest se dotýká problému měřítka. Pokud chcete vytvářet životaschopnou budoucnost, je naprosto klíčové vzít v potaz globální měřítko, neboť život lidí je dnes určován globální infrastrukturou. A pokud chcete vytvářet budoucnost, musí být feministická – proč taky vůbec plánovat jinou? Genderové nerovnosti jsou sice centrálním tématem našeho textu, jde však také o potřebu feminismu jako nezbytného základu pro každý další projekt orientovaný na budoucnost. Patricia Reed: Jedním z důvodů, proč se manifest daří šířit, je rozmanitost jeho témat a široké zaměření na lidi s rozdílnými prioritami. Můj zájem například spočívá v propojení feminismu s univerzalismem, se štědrostí a problematik... EN Excerpt: In the presentation in TranzitDisplay you paid a lot of attention to the idea of global complexity and feminisms’ obligations to face up these challenges. Can you describe the most important aims of the manifesto? DB A big part of XF deals with the problem of the scale. If you want to construct the future, a future that is at all viable you need to take realities of global scale into account. So much of how humans now live is impacted by global infrastructure in some way, to not take this into account would seem foolish. And if you want to construct a future - it has to be feminist future. Why would you construct one which wasn’t? Although injustices around gender are central for the project, it doesn’t exclusively focus on these particulars, rather it understands the need for feminism to be foundational for any future oriented project. PR It’s touching on different points, one of the reasons I believe it got some degree of circulation, is because people with quite different interests, can find something to hook into. For example, my personal interests lay in linking feminism to universalism, linking feminism to generosity, linking feminism to epistemic problematics, largely because of the scale and disciplinary entanglements of problems we are facing. We need get thoughtful traction, these problems are not something that we can, through pure affect or will, urge into existence. We can’t simply ‘will into being’ a new, equitable economic structure, for example. As important as it is to be passionate about another possible future, there needs to be boring work of modelling all these activities, that are not necessarily sexy, but that could have enduring impact.
